About Us

Kendal Curtis, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

I grew up in beautiful Washington State and began my journey in healthcare in 2012 with a strong desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I earned my Associate’s Degree in Nursing in Spokane, WA in 2017, and later went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Nursing through Frontier Nursing University in May 2023.

Before becoming a nurse I gained valuable experience in healthcare as a pharmacy technician that helped lay the foundation for my nursing career. An an RN, I worked in a variety of settings, including rural critical access hospital, high-acuity trauma ERs and in a mom-baby hospital unit.

Now, as a Family Nurse Practitioner working in primary care, I’m especially passionate about making a small difference in the broken healthcare system we face. I’ve experienced the effects of short patient visit times, red tape from insurance, administrative issues and burnout and I decided that I want better for my family and community. I’m especially passionate about women’s health but I love helping patients of all genders and ages feel supported and empowered in their healthcare journeys. I believe in building lasting relationships with my patients, rooted in trust, compassion and individualized care.

Outside of work I’m a proud wife and mom to 5 wonderful kids. In my free time I enjoy traveling, concerts, collecting and (trying) to take care of houseplants and home decorating.

FAQs

What is direct primary care?

Direct primary care (DPC) is a membership-based model where patients pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to their provider. We don’t bill insurance which allows us to prioritize our patient relationships and keep care affordable and transparent. Below you can find a video explaining more about the DPC model. Do I need health insurance?

You do not need health insurance to see us but we do recommend keeping insurance in case of hospitalizations or surgeries. Most people find a high deductible plan with low premiums to be the best option.

Can I use insurance at Freya?

We will not bill insurance for our services, however you can still use insurance for medications, imaging or specialist visits outside of our facility.

Are labs and medications included with my membership?

No, however labs and medications are offered at deep discount prices, many times a fraction of insurance rates.

Do you see children and families?

Yes! We provide care from newborn through age 64 and offer discounted family plans.

What if I rarely see a provider?

Many patients join for peace of mind and knowing that they can access their provider anytime for sick visits or any concerns or questions about their health.

Do you provide a safe and inclusive space for minorities and LGBTQ+ individuals?

Absolutely. Our clinic is built on respect, trust, compassion and fostering relationships with our patients. We are committed to providing care that affirms and supports every patient- regardless of race, culture, gender identity or sexual orientation. We want you to feel safe, valued and heard here.

Can I use my HSA for my membership fees?

Yes (soon)! Law changes in January of 2025 will allow patients to use their HSA for DPC membership fees in 2026!

What makes Freya different?

At Freya we truly value our patient relationships and experiences. Every detail about the clinic is thought about through the lens of patient care and a positive healthcare experience, from specially designed speculums to options for sheets instead of exam paper and curated vitamins and supplements to holistically support your health. Most of us have experienced the clinic environment to be uncomfortable, uninviting and a bit intimidating. Freya was founded because we believe that healthcare should feel like self-care and everyone deserves a healthcare home that feels like home.
